The Safe Space

diary

Fly your own skies, find your own grounds, land where you find it safe, till you find it safe

If you do not forge connect or draw in your audiences in the first five to ten seconds of your content, then as the world of social media experts says, your content is no good. I am scared for if websites are also graded similarly, basis first few paragraphs or pages. Why? Because this is my first wesbite, and that too on something that I yearn for, many a times in life, like you do. This website is more a journey, that we embark on together, and find, un-find and re-find ourselves on. And journeys do not always begin with the greenest grasslands or snow-covered peaks or bluest of oceans. There’s always terrains that aren’t that exciting to begin with. So, hope you stay with me on this one, for I too am journeying.

Speaking of journeys, mine since teens, has always been about growing older into an adult, who can take his own decisions, be successful, famous, favored in whatever he does. To bring all that alive, with all that age, experience, learnings from books, self help videos, I thought I will know what I truly want, and how to make myself deserving of all of it. And here I am, even with age and experience, lots of times, thinking, for how little I know of myself. Yes, you read it right, little. Hello, before you judge me, can you, hand on heart say that you know yourself, utterly and completely.

The good thing is, we do, and we don’t, and that is what makes it all so very interesting, challenging. Oh sorry, many of us may not like challenges, or the word ‘challenging’. You can’t see me, but am smirking, because at times, I am that one.

By now you should know, I crack silly jokes, and whether anyone likes them or not, I laugh, heartily, and at times, uncontrollably. I think I am funny. Are you?

Are you judging me again? See am attention hungry as well. Are you?

Now before you lose interest in me, and this website, let me have something intelligent, intellectual to write.

So, on an overly delayed serious note, what made you reach out for this website?

Well I can tell you that the first time I had heard of the words ‘safe space’ was on this Amazon series called ‘Mom’, where the protagonists would go to alcoholics anonymous meetings and share their life stories, progress on staying sober, difficulties they are encountering to do so, how multiple triggers push them to reaching out to that bottle again etc. I must compliment the cast and crew of the show, to how wonderfully, in a comical / satirical manner, they have brought out such critical nuances of life alive, and in such a relatable manner, for the ones who have a drinking problem, and also the ones, for who these drunk people become problems (to handle).

So my introduction to safe space, mildly put, was pretty safe, through a screen, basis fictional characters’ issues.

There’s something so calming and serene about the word ‘safe’. We simply start feeling lighter, cuddled, coddled. It’s like that first sip of hot chai on a rainy day, or that hot Maggie in the mountains, or that cold fresh lime soda on a summer afternoon, or the first bite of chhole bhature.

Well, I am here for now in my TSS – The Safe Space, or is it To Shine Some (more) zone, trying to present the first phase of this website.

Which full form do you prefer?

I like them both, and find very similar in essence.
